Marres, House for Contemporary Culture explores new developments in the international visual arts by developing exhibitions, commissioning new works, and signaling artistic practices, including visual arts, performance, music, and dance. Marres also offers a diverse education and public program focused on body language and sensory knowledge. With her large public garden and the popular restaurant Marres Kitchen, Marres is a public meeting place for all.

Description
As a production assistant, you’ll be working closely with the production manager as a key coordinator during the fourth edition of the Limburg Biennale. If you’d like to gain experience in cultural production and are highly organized and assertive, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Your hours will be scheduled flexibly in consultation. At certain times, you’ll work full-time weeks (for example, right before the opening or on other important dates), while things will be quieter at other times. In addition to working 1 to 2 days a week, it’s important that you are available on the following dates in 2026 (this list will be updated):

February 23 – March 8 (weekdays)

April 16 and 17

June 5 and 6

June 22 – 27
Your tasks include:

Processing all submissions from the open call
-
Preparing and assisting during the jury days
-
Preparing and assisting during the drop-off and pick-up days
-
Providing general support to the production manager


Profile

You are practical and hands-on

You are flexible regarding working hours and tasks

You are very accurate and precise in your administrative work

Structure gives you satisfaction

It is a plus if you have an affinity with Marres’ program and the art field

You have a good command of both Dutch and English

You are stress-resistant, professional, and assertive

You can work independently, but also enjoy being part of a team

You are technically skilled and proficient with computer programs such as Excel

Preferably living in Maastricht or the surrounding area

Preferably a freelancer; employment on payroll is possible, depending on agreement
